I have a challenge
« on: October 06, 2011, 12:33 am »

I'm sure I won't last very long but here we go. I hereby promise not to use any references, (beside my own mind) to answer any star wars question. Just please ask reasonable questions. Don't ask questions such as "How many hairs does Chewbacca have" etc. Also please ask questions about the actual universe. I can't guarantee I'll be able to answer question about how star wars was created. I don't think I'll last long but just to find out how long... :)

Star Wars question: In which lightsabre form was Master Obi-Wan Kenobi considered the most skillful practitioner in his time, and what other forms did he also know?

Non- Star Wars question: Name and summarise the function of the four chambers of the human heart (an easy one) :).

Obi-Wan Kenobi was proficient in Soresu, and Ataru though Ataru was condered his general style during the clone wars. He fought Greivous using Soresu, Count Dooku with Ataru. I could tell you that there are four chambers of the human heart but, I don't know what they are.

Pretty wrong, sorry :P; Obi-Wan initially mastered Ataru under Qui Gon Jinn, but subsequent to the latter's demise to the Darth Maul's Juyo on account of Ataru's lack of defensive capability he abandoned it to master Soresu. After Naboo he switched to using the defensive Soresu (which he practised throughout the Clone Wars) and eventually rose to be considered the greatest Soresu practitioner known to the Jedi Order: by the time he sat on the High Council he was said to be able to parry or deflect upto 18 blaster bolts per second through intricate combination of lightsabre strokes and in the Novelisation of Episode III was said to be capable of resisting even the Makashi of Count Dooku. He was known to integrate elements of Ataru into his use of Soresu to make his mastery of the defensive form more deadly towards enemies; but essentially was chosen to face the 4-bladed Jedi-slaying General Grievous since he was considered to be one of few Council Masters who could stand against his fury single-handedly due to his defensive prowess :P.

Obi is my favourite, hence I know this kind of nonsense :P.

To tell you the truth, Obi-Wan is my favorite character too. He always seemed to have the best line. Yes, I agree with everything you say. Most of the Clone Wars he used Ataru. (Such as in Episode II I think) but at the time of Episode III, he was using Soresu and that is the style he used to beat Greivous, (which I think I said ) Obi-Wan used Soresu for the rest of his life. Did you ever read Revenge of the Sith by...his first name was matt I think?

I've only read bits of it; I don't own my own copy but when I last saw one in a library I scoured for bits about Obi :P.

As far as I can tell, he stopped using Ataru after the Battle of Naboo and adopted Soresu for the whole Clone Wars; certainly he integrates Ataru into it but his technique in the films and even TCW is very much a tight mesh of precise defensive strokes, waiting for an opening to disarm or wound his enemy.

I have one:

What is Thrawn's full name?  This is fairly easy.

Mitth'raw'nurodo is Thrawn's full name, and Thrawn is itself the Chiss core name of Mitth'raw'nurodo.

Obi-Wan's use of Form IV: Ataru, Yoda's preferred form, during the Duel on the Invisible Hand, along with Anakin's use of the Shien sub-form of Form V, was merely a ploy to catch Count Dooku and his use of Form II: Makashi off balance, when they switched to their true forms, Form III: Soresu and the Djem So sub-form of Form V, respectively.

B'omarr monks are traditionally, the people who built and inhabited the palace of Jabba the Hutt. Way before Jabba the Hutt, a criminal lord used the palace as a base of operations and greatly expanded the palace grounds. Ever since then, it has been tradition for the owner of the palace to add something new onto it. B'omarr monks followed a religion in which they believed that the path to self enlightenment was to completely sever themselves from all worldly things including body parts. Because of this, most of the monks were missing parts of their body. If a monk reached the final stage of enlightenment, he or she would have their barin removed from there body and put into a jar of nutrient liquid where they would contemplate the questions of life without distractions. By the time of Jabba the Hutt, there were few monks left that were not disembodied though they could be found at some of the lower levels. No reference was used for this.

Due to the fact that there are whole libraries full of star wars books, I very much doubt I could every star book in one house not to mention all the video games and such. I  do have all the movies and I've read a lot of the books but i doubt anyone could read them all. I've played quite of the few video games (such as star wars Empire at war :D) But I've actually never played KOTOR which is kind of messed up. Having all of this media would probably not fit in an empty football field (of which I am incredibly short of) and trust me, I may know a lot but I doubt I know the most of Star Wars. if you ever get the chance though, I have a quite a few sites you can visit:

This is a star wars trivia questions site.

I site to ask all your questions about star wars.

Right now, this is more a sight for learning star wars languages but i hope to get more done in the future, if anyone wants to help just send me an email at starwarsfreak000@gmail.com

i started all of these, you can check them out and feel free to comment on the facebook pages :)

Alright, I know this topic is a little bit old (so 3 days, very old huh? ^^), but I have two question:
First: Which title had Boba Fett during the legacy-era and, what was the name of his daughter, wife and grandchild (first name is enough)?
Second, now refered to my favourite era, the YV-era: Who was the last one who left the base at Borleias, when Domain Hul attacked it and in which ship he/she left?

Ah and of course, a little    conundrum of the SW-universe (a really bad one): What is the difference between a lightsabre and a glowrod?

When I saw that the founder of this mod (Am I correct?) had posted I was sure I was doomed and yes I am. I don't know the answer to either of your questions. On the other hand, the difference between glowrod and a lightsaber is quite easy. This is what a lightsaber does... :fight:
And this is what a glowrod does   (lightsaber) a glowrod lights up and glows.

I'm not the founder of this mod, I'm just the...uhm...9th leader (correct me please, if I'm wrong). The founder was Augrunt I think...long before I've registered here.
Alright then ^^
The conundrum came out of the last legacy-book and the answer (of the 15-years-old Jacen) was: ~2000 °C ;)
Boba Fett was the Mandalore during this time. Wife: Sintas Vel, Daughter: Ailyn Vel, Grandchild: Mirta Gev.
It was Wedge and he left in an old, slightly damaged, by the ground crew abandoned X-Wing without astromech-droid.

I wouldn't have been able to tell you any of this but all that you said, I can see happening.  It would be very Wedgish for him to be the last to leave Borleias, they fought very hard there and Rogue Squadron was there too, so Wedge obviously would have been with them. I like your name too, Yuuzhan Vong indeed. Shimmra was thei Yuuzhan Vong  leader was he not?

He was. My favourite character in the SW-books...Shimrra Jamaane. Btw, it's quite funny for me to read the new-jedi-order books now...because, when I read "Shimrra" I always think: hey thats my nam...no it isn't. >.<

Yes, I could imagine that could lead to some confusion.  :P Fortunately, the name Roguebantha never crops up anywhere in the stories and it gave me a good laugh.
