Greetins fans,
The release date previously posted is incorrect, release will be when we are finished, however should be soon. Chris is being declared inactive now, due to an ability to communicate with his team. He is welcome to come back when he has the time. Myself and Solar will carry on this mod to completion as much as possible, and to demonstrate that we have a video at moddb.com about our new sub menu system (look here).

certainly not good news, fans. but fear not, we are not dead. as i myself have witnessed Shim and solar hard at work, their can-do attitudes, and both are still soldiering on to finish off what we started. they are the true heroes and really do deserve credit!

Power-on team...this mod can't die so close to completion. Might I ask for a list in a PM of what needs doing? If the situation deteriorates to the point you get desperate enough, I'll see who/what I can dig out to help. I still have contact with a large community of ex-modders, but I would only want to get them involved for the absolute last resort as the childish bickering could just as easily kill UEAW as their expertise could save it.

Hmm...no Chris means that I have just inherited the role of UEAW Grammar Checker. Curses, I much prefer a less formal manner to present my opinions to the community.

Most of the people that were interested are still around and we've been waiting for quite a while. A couple more months won't hurt much considering most of us are in school at this point.

I had and will continue to wish the team luck. This is a tremendous undertaking which each and every person is thankful that you guys haven't taken in order to provide us with a fun experience.

Good job guys, I'd love to contribute and give you some extra manpower, but i don't know how if all i can do is land map.  (I;d also like to be a beta-2 tester, so when that starts, could i be one of those?)

I can't estimate it right, but a rough estimate for beta-2 start is ~1 month...maybe less, maybe more. Depends on how difficult is AI and how long MP implementation (GC's) will take...

Especially because story scripts aren't working in MP so I have to reorganize each unit/structure/research for MP to shrink our set of units/structures/researches down to an acceptable count of units, huh?

a GC is simply a list of planets, with their respective starting forces etc. not sure what you are thinking about.

So, and how do you want to build units/structures then? If we have more than 26 units/structures (what we have), we can't build some. And this is why we need the sub menu, implemented via a story script. And story scripts doesn't work in Multiplayer GC's. So we can't implement sub menu in multiplayer. So we have to think about a new MP-only system. Estne clarum?
Maybe you've seen the tag Rebel_Story_Name or Empire_Story_Name before, huh? ^^

Maybe I could practice and help out with that for a little while?  (If you still need that)

If you're familiar with story script writing/LUA event scripting...
It isn't as easy as solar has written in his tutorial, especially because of our sub menu system and our new tech system...
BTW, where IS your tutorial, solar? o.O
But I've finished anyway the normal GC's, just MP remains...and I have to think first about a lot of things, and if you don't know our full mod, you can't think about everything..

Haha, this is why I'm implementing mostly alone the MP's - because I'm the only one who has still overview about the mod - no offense, but I was in the team while the main decissions were made.
And I thought it was in our wiki or in the Modding Team section...I can't look in it right now, because I'm in school :P But you're right, in V4 story plots didn't matter. We've used there just the vanilla ones.

If LUA coding is complex and hard to learn for begginers, I would probably not be of much help, but i'll make a test GC map using Solar's tutorial and then submit it for you guys to judge in the vanilla game. Then if im good at it, you can teach me how to code in the other modded stuff (unless that's XML and is added seperatley)

EDIT:  I think I could do some basic XML modding after reading the tutorial, I just need to practice some.  There's a specific program/programs you need to edit XML right?  If so, where can I get them?  And if not, how do I open the XML files?

(Its Lua, not LUA. Its in another language, not an acronym)

Ernmm...I can program in Lua pretty well. Been at it for about 2 years, and its the first programming language I learned. Its not THAT hard to learn.
