do you mean like getting a row of bombersinto a V-formation or a ser of Star destroyers into a box?

Or do you mean creating Easy-to-use "number groups"? (eg. tie group one to the 1 key, tie group two to the 2 key, ect...)

with formation I meant the things with the V and the row, espacially the V is meant as a V out of more than one squadrons, not the ship of an squadron

Porg, be nice.

yes i see it actually, and Porg, they DO have formations when entering, they only break during the combat, in the first barrage they'll take formation.

I can see it for things like corvetts definately, and ofcourse, tanks. nothing like a nice row of tanks to make a day, though on land terrain may make things problematic.

but I see the problem: you can unite several different types of units. corvettes, SSZs and bombers. how may a formation work?

they do in in C&C and AOE games. all you need to do is to add a key that means it focuses on an single unit as a "Central" point and where that units moves the others follow, like normal, but in a certain shape/pattern or "Formation"

well we're in no position to say what can and can't be done. but if it cabn work i'd like it, especially if the AI can be programmed to use it to. It'd make things interesting... feel sorry for infantry though...

Infantry tactic with lone tank charge = Run round it.
Infantry tactic with tank row charge = Hope your bones clog up the treads...

Formations are preset to the company of units you recruit; we can't make ships re-arrange in space easily to the click of a button, although lua could potentially try to do so it'd never work fully or properly.
