What would you fly?
A X-Wing or a Tie Fighter?

You mean personal preference? cuz if not, the X-wing has always been stated to be the better fighter. hands down. it's newer than the TIE and had shields. nuff said. I'd fly X-wing.

Tie was far more manouverable and a skilled pilot could shread any X-wing, but as the 501'st campaing in BFII proved skilled people was something the Empire ran out of.

wow. not gonna lie, that is 100% new to me, guess I'm eating my words. I was ALWAYS under the impression the X-wing trumps the original TIE in every field. wasn't it's design brand new when the Rebels stole it? it's not outdated like the rest of their craft. I mean, I can see the TIE Interceptors or Advanced owning X-wings, but regular TIEs?

the TIE had more speed and was half the size of an X-Wing. it was more maneuverable, but was lighter armed.
the power of TIEs were in there quantity - they costed about the half of an X-Wing and came in big squadrons.
the TIE has no hyperdrive. This only seems as if it'd be some weakness - TIEs came with big ships like Acclamators, Victories & Co --> X-Wing = screwed against an entire cruiser including his squadrons

in a one vs. one I'd prefer the X-Wing. It might hasn't the maneuverability of the TIE, but compensate this by having shields and can compensate some hits. it has a stronger weaponry + astromech support. In an one on one fight totally superior.

Sheilding and firepower are meaningless if the oponent can out-manouver you,

You could put all the guns of a star-destroyer on a X-wing, but if the tie can still dodge it and get behinde, boom!

X-Wings aren't that unable to maneuver in space combat, heck, a skilled enough pilot in an X-Wing can down how many ties?

I'll admit, tie fighters have potential, but you'd need to be skilled in it to make a difference...

and that was the largest problem, when the Empire dropped the cloning programmes and their advanced training after the Kamino uprising for standard conscription the Empire quickly ran out of skilled pilots!
By the time of the battle of yavin, let alone endor, the Empire was using some of the worst pilots in space-warfare history...

Well to them, it was all about the numbers...the Emperor thought of quality second, and only primary for when it was absolutely important...

Ties are far more agile and accurate (due to its advanced sienar fleet systems targeting systems) than any reble fighters, but lacks power, a hyperdrive and shielding/armour. but in skilled hands the tie's weaknesses can be easily supressed. once you lock on to those slow moving crosswinged cigars they wont even be able to shake you, with already accurate targeting comps, all you need is to squeeze the trigger a bit longer and there u have it! who needs shields and hyperdrives? the cowardly rebs do.

i always PWN in TIE fighters on battlefront 2 online.

hmmm gotta agree with that one but i'm just sorta adding in somthing extra

it's really a matter of personal preferance in BFII, but i think the TIE's wing size & shape caused it to be easily hit, while X-wings are flatter and has a smaller hit-box. but i always end up gettin' behind some slow moving buggar who depleted his staminar bar and he can't even shake me off with an immelmann while partially charged, let alone trying to hit me.

I would choose the X-Wing First, since it has sheilds and a hyperdrive also it has proton torpedos...(which some people seemed to forget about)
However, in the case of Tie Interceptor or X-Wing, I pick the interceptor since it is improved and also it has a nice design to it.

TIE-Defender --- far more advanced.
The Y-wing is basically an ancient relict in comparison to a TIE-Defender...

Y-wing is a old republic bomber, compared with the modern multi-role (fight/bomber) of the Tie defender? might as well throw stones at them...

Also don't forget about the TIE Defenders Ion Cannons, and the fact that it looks like the wings could slice a fighter in half... or a person.

in a choice between TIE defender and almost any other fighter I would chose the defender. It one of the best fighters in existence

Still TIE Defender since it is a fighter and a bomber... not to mention the fact that in a game of Empire at war I killed a bunch of B-wings with a TIE Defender group

but I think the b-wing could still handle the Defender quite well bcs of it's design....
it's much easier to manouver and offers quite more variety....
nevertheless, Defender is more modern and superior in every other situation.....

Ok then, now which would you choose if you had to destroy a base, with two turbolaser towers guarding a sheild generator (this will make this more intresting and also there is more variety)
