I know that the staff are aiming at bringing this mod for realism and gameplay mostly, but from what ive seen so far, checking back from when i can, this mod is going to transform itself into Empire: Total War style with all the stuff you have to concentrate on. now i know theres nothing wrong with that, but you also have to keep in mind if the mod will be long to play, wich is the case of Empire total war, or if youll stick to the basics of the game. not completely destroying it.

you can critisize what i said if you want, this is a review of your situations and possible truthful predictions of the mod after all.

No it's not. Stop bothering yourself. I have a separate project planned for a more Total War style mod for the future, UEAW is not it.

But i'm guessing some units shouldn't have upkeep, or much, as many people in the rebellio joined out of free will, and most droids didn't last long enough for thier first service.

Upkeep will work differently depending on factions. As you suggest, the Rebellion, despite having various limitations due to the nature of the Rebel Alliance (some technological and also in terms of raw firepower, but especially numerical and territorial, at least initially), will have a much easier time with upkeep; whilst it will not be non-existent since they naturally had to maintain their vessels et cetera, their upkeep burden is far less demanding on the whole than the Imperial's system, since the Rebels benefit from idealistic volunteers as a large part of their force. Conversely, the Imperial bureaucracy will have heftier costs et cetera, with other positive attributes to balance it out.

These are gameplay improvements; if we wanted to implement total-war style gameplay it'd be nigh on impossible with the engine anyway. It will be harder, hence the poll on game-style separation, but A) harder has been frequently requested and B) it'll change the game for the better in terms of quality, the point of the game is not to be easy but rather to be a challenge!
