hey guys I've been having trouble lately you see i live in the UK I'm 15 i have a small job that gets me £40 a week i would be grateful to have any help on any advice on were to get a good cheap gaming PC or at least a PC capeable of playing eaw and foc. I've been stuck with this terrible minbook laptop do not get one i advise u strongly, anyway any help would be appreciated like a computer name, brand, shop, price, telephone number, website address anythink would be very helpfull and appreciated thankyou in advanced i know your all good and nice pepole

are you bothered about having a desktop rather than a laptop? desktops are much cheaper, and you can build them yourself to lower cost even more. plus, in the future, you just upgrade parts rather than buying a whole new computer.

if you dont mind building yourself, this place is probably the cheapest around for the individual parts. Im sure Solar could guide you on affordable choices.

if you definitly want a laptop, id normally recomend this but recently ive found companies like dell are actually offering computers at a low enough price its worth a look at them first, before going for a custom-build.

I think Dell actually has a deal going on (at least in the States) that if you buy a Studio laptop (really good, IMO), you get a netbook for free. Pal of mine dropped 2k, and got two really, really nice laptops.

There is always the financial end though...

okay thank you guys and yer i want to get a computer because they seem to be better and every blinking new computer/lapotp comes with vista on it .... anyway im only 14 and i carnt buy online cos i live with me nan and thats jst coplicated i have the choice of www.argos.co.uk or pc world, really i would get a cheap computer and upgrade it and stuff but i dnt have a clue on how to do that lol

ARGOS OR PC WORLD?!?!? Why don't you just throw your money in a furnace?

I cant help you if your limiting yourself to that...the prices are incomprehensible...PC World is just for idiots who dont mind paying 3 times the price to not have to think and Argos...is just Argos...which is just as bad! I can't stress this enough...you buy from there its like buying a mouldy loaf of bread for a tenner, so you dont have to worry about it ever going off (since its already off)

lol i do see your point pc world and argos are well limited and rubbish although there is currys... anyway, is it possible to get a cheap computer for £299 and then just upgrde the graphics and ram? even though i have no clue how to do this .... i hate being a dum 15yr ... can you give me a name of a computer that is suitable for playing eaw plzzz so that i can get it or one with simmilar specs ... i would really apreciate the help i mean i really would ...

300 quid for an upgradeable desktop...not hard to do, i built my computer over 2 years ago for 500 quid and its still more than capable of playing modern games.

please tell me you dont need a monitor...

ummm well yer i do need a monitor but i can get one of my uncle .... my uncle can get towers because they fall of the back of lorries cough cough .... i just need to get them wiped.... so if i get a cheap tower with the basics how to i build it up like graphics and ram and stuff??

okay, i think ive got a good comparison here...

imagine your building a base. your motherboard is the ground you build on, with all your other bits and bobs which make the computer (AKA base) being built on it. the problem with these "fallen-off-the-back-of-a-lorry-computers" is the motherboard (ground your building on) could be rubbish (sand) and therefore you might not be able to build anything on it anyway...
