Some bits and bobs for you to show our progress
« on: June 08, 2009, 11:15 pm »

Check out all of the new images on our moddb - all these have been done in the latest weeks; we're working much faster again - the mod is moving - this will dispel any myths of 'dead'-ness.

The Venator looks awesome...  Other than that I love the Saboath Destroyer(which if I remember correctly I started the Saboath Squadron Ideas)

nice progress: i take it that all of this ''progress'' is only a fraction of the total amount of progress you guys made recently?

That is what the modelling department has managed in 3 weeks of holiday. After being inactive, LTCC has joined it and is fairly good. Taking complete models from our cache and skinning them. Evilbob made one model recently as well, the Aurek

Nice! its good to see some of those "this mod is dead" quoters put in there place, quite annoying reading that sort of thing from people who obviously dont follow the mod

I really like those Republic skins! Who's the skinner right now, anyway?

Well, it's a working vacation. If they feel like working (which it seems they do :P) then they'll do something.

Nice! its good to see some of those "this mod is dead" quoters put in there place, quite annoying reading that sort of thing from people who obviously dont follow the mod
Well, those who don't only really know about v4. I think most people expected the team to keep building off v4 and release successive builds, rather than trying to get things done in large chunks (better, in my opinion).

yeah, i was meaning some of the moddb ppl, seems some of them were just spamming it for the sake of it. most these mods are coming years after the original game came out its nice to see not just the ueaw team but others still improving it.

Maybe you should get the title "UEAW Jack of All Trades," since you can code, model, and skin :o. Now we all know what's been keeping you so busy.

(that's s-t-n's thing)

but he is busy, he has the FW mod to do, along with UEAW, and he is head(?) for FW mod and head of coding, a big responsibility on both counts.

It's already been taken...  Though is in the possession of an inactive person, Fynbos.

Jack-of-all-Trades isn't a ceremonial title that can only be held by one person; it's a designation; did Fyn actually do everything, though? But yes, Solar and I do many a thing.

ah, so the epicness continues.

Will it have a different skin in the Clonewars era to it in the GCW (if it's still in) as i'm guessing the latter will be more dirty, scratched, dented, ect...

Yes and no. If there are any semi-story bound remnants in use by the Galactic Empire in Era III they will be probably graphically specialised to show wear and tear; because such things will be taken into consideration to maximise immersion.

However, any new Venators that the Empire constructs will be sparkly new (with appropriate markings and emblems), since they would indeed be hot off the press.

may work the earlier tech lvls but once ISDs, Mcs, SSds and the eclipse come into play they become much less useful.

Chris, are they gonna maintain thier current ability or are oyu going to give it some new ones?
As i would suggest it should have its rear hanger deploying normal squads but it could unfold its main hanger and deploy X squads as an ability, like the Executor had.
But the ability takes several seconds to activate and while the hangers are opening/closing it should be easeir to attack and kill
(if its possible, as i would imagine they'd shoot the interior to cause max damage like with the Ds)

The Venator hangars had powerful concentrated deflectors to protect the interior whilst open; though:

A) they wouldn't usually be opened in range of any serious firepower anyway; in battle the front doors or second hangar would be utilised.
B) even if we did animate them to use a squadron deploy ability opening the doors, we couldn't really make such a damage modifier.

The Venator will be true to its canon status; a versatile and powerful multi-role battlecarrier - with a significant fighter complement, reasonable transport capacity and significant amounts of heavy firepower; for many operations on their own being very useful capital ships that can perform multiple functions in a fleet.

This however will not ultimately avail the player in every battle; as shown in the Clone Wars themselves; though the Venators are powerful and versatile in their many functions, they are not a master of any specific one. A wise player will know how to balance his fleets!
