A lot of times you will see the words
- canon
- fanon
- noncanon
etc...
I just want to explain that phrases to you, in case (just like me) are not a native english speaker and are confused.
"
Canon" basicly means "Real Star Wars" in the sence, that it is actual SW based.
So, whenever someone says: "This is canon" he means that this is according to Star Wars stories or technology specifications etc.
There are some degrees of "canon", which pretty much explain themselfes:
-
G-Canon (from George Lucas Canon) means everything from the films.
This is hammered to stone and whatever it says, it counts, even if it is confusing.
Best example: The sounds of the TIEs in space. It does not work in our universe, but since it is in the films, it is real in the Star Wars universe.
-
C-Canon(from Continuity Canon) is everything with a Star Wars License, but not the movies. Like books, comics or games.
For example: The Eclipse Star Dreadnaugh. You have not seen it in the movies, but there are comics, books and this game about it.
It is offical Star Wars.
-
S-Canon (from Secondary Canon) means stories and events and such that continue another official story or close a gap between 2 stories, or are just so old, that they dont fit into todays lines of SW anymore.
For Example: The Marvel Star Wars Comics from about 25 years ago.
-
N-Canon (from Non-Canon, also known as "fanon", fan-canon etc...) is everything we fans come up with and that is not officially approved by George Lucas or one of his companies (licensed).
For example: The Imperial Ultra Star Destroyer, that you will encounter here in the discussions a lot.
I'm telling you all this so you can destuingish between real things of Star Wars and fan stuff, when you want to request something.
Because we at UEAW like to stay away from noncanon stuff.
