Mine has to be Sir Arthur William Currie, "Canada's best Soldier".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Currie. In a documentary about Vimy Ridge I was watching, The British Monarch & Prime Minister in WWI said that "If the War lasted another year, he would have been promoted to "Commanding Officer of all Allied forces"". He mastered the "Creeping Barrage tactic. He was not loved by his men, but his men respected them. He was also not afraid of his commanding British officers, because in the battle of Paschendale, he was quoted saying to Sir Douglas Haig:
Give me those [censored]ing artillery Guns, or don't expect the Canadian Corps to attack the City.
He was also good a predicting casualties, because in the battle of Paschendale, he said the 16,525 Canadians would be killed or wounded; 16,528 were killed or wounded. For all theses reasons, he is My Favorite General.
