Heavy armor works, but as for the people talking about MPTL's armor being weak, I think they were supposed to be lightly armored to prevent strain on the engines and treads and they could move faster. The range lets you get one or two rounds off, but you should move it as soon as you can. create a moving target. Units like that are the point in fade and fade pincher attacks.

Well, the MPTL looks like it should be able to fire on the move. The fire tubes can pivot and if you just take out the concealment doors, it should be able to fire on the move.

i dont think its that.

i think it was for accuracy. Its almost impossible to fire artillery when the angle of your guns are constantly changing due to unlevel terrain.

That's true too. I guess with the aid of targetting computers and considerable skills and exceptional reflexes, it could be done, but not many have that ability.

no they're not; they're more like Melee tanks; they got in close and barraged with rockets from point-blank. Their rockets really didn't have good range. If you watch in episode II, the hailfires all charge the republic tanks at high speed; not something artillery would do.

I don't think they're too much Meele tank, though. They're more like Light Assault Tanks.
