T-4B firing
« on: November 17, 2008, 11:55 pm »

Okay, i have posted a lot recently, but i hope that as long as i have a lot some of them will be good.

Since the Empire, to quote e^, "will be getting most of the goodies in v2." I thought it would be appropriate to allow t-4bs to fire lasers and rockets simultaneously. I did this to the game on my computer, and i think it is a pretty good addition.

This would be cannon because firing a missile uses the missile's engine, and does not require much strain on the power generator of the vehicle/ship/object it is using as a platform.

That simply would make it overpowered.

I think Krystal's right, they already kick substantial (badword).

EDIT:
Maybe they could come in groups of four or five instead of just three? (Perhaps a price increase to prevent spamming them)

I made the change to my game and didn't notice any serious issues with balance. Besides, as e^ said in the rebel bombardment thread, the imps will be getting a lot of land goodies in v2

perhaps; it does make a lot of sense, but the problem is not power, its that the computer's targeting system couldn't handle the strain; that's why fighters can fire either missiles or lasers, not both at the same time. perhaps it could be an upgrade?

just to confirm; an upgrade such as...

ENHANCED TARGETING COMPUTERS : 900 CR*

Enalbes T4-B Tanks to fire both missiles and main cannon at the same time.

*Just an example, I'll leave it to the team to figure out a price.

Sounds good, I still they're already fine, but whatever you want to do.

Like a special ability to be able to fire all weapons at once

Oh so instead of as an upgrade, have it as an ability?  I guess that works.

Like the imperials all power to weapons ability, lose speed for more firepower.

I dont see why. The missiles and lasers would only be locked on one target (heck, i think lasers are just point and shoot, not lock and fire) so only one targeting signature would be needed. The missile guidance does the rest.

Good idea, a laser and missile barrage would make this a more powerful tank

woot! someone in agreement!

Anyways, the only thing i had to do is edit one line in the T-4B's XML file.

I still personally think it will overpower it. I mean, not only now are there powerful lasers but it syncrhonously fires off ballistic missiles. That's an uber-tank if I ever saw one.

An AT-AT would still be able to take out a squad, no sweat.

But it would also easily be able to take out the AT-AT.

No. An AT-AT right now can easily take out 6 tanks. this would only decrease it to 4 or 5 (the rockets are bad against AT-ATs)

actually, one group of T4-B and one AT-AT are evenly matched; if you look at the tooltip, the T4-B is both strong and weak against the AT-AT. that's how they should be, except that the Empire is getting more of the power boosts, so T4-B's should now be slightly better than AT-ATs.
