Tell me how to protect my computer

I have the firewall that came with my windows xp. I want a better one. What is a VERY good firewall i can download and use for free that dosen't slow down my computer?

Zone Alarm is good...and free.  I would recomend Kerio Personal Firewall, but since Sunbelt has taken over its devolpment its been buggy and unstable.  BlackIce firewall is another product thats good, but its more complicated to use.  For the simple home user, I would just go for Zone Alarm.  Here are some reviews http://www.all-internet-security.com/top_10_firewall_software.html.

Yeap, though I have to add, that Zonealarm eats up your CPU-%usage when used for edonkey etc.

I use Sygate Personal Firewall Pro since years.
