Topic: Battle of Queenston Heights (Read 544 times)

It was Oct. 13th, 1812, that American forces attack Queenston, Ontario. around 400 men on both sides were killed or wounded, (British/Canadian and American). Isaac Brock, lead a charge to push the American forces back, on the first charge, Brock was shot in the hand. On the Second, He was killed by a Sharpshooter. His last words were "Loyal Troops of the Empire, Press in". About 1000 Americans were captured in the battle. And, here in Canada, The anniversary of the battle is on our Thanksgiving day! The main reason the Brits won was because they outnumbered the Americans about 2-5.

You will find that the Americans barely won the war of 1812, and in fact, lost most of the battles, including the battle of our own capital when the British marched in and burned the white house. Ever wonder why it is called the white house? Cause they painted it white over the burns.

Well, it was more or less came down Draw. But ya, White Paint would have been cheap in 1815.

well, it is true that we didn't win the war, and won only a handful of battles, but American did gain something from the war of 1812, and it was the respect of other nations.

Strictly speaking, i consider ending the blockade on our ports winning. But at the same time we lost more men and more battles.

Actually, even we hate him. Something like a 19% approval rate, lowest ever in history. I cant believe this country was dumb enough to elect him twice. You should look up "great moments in presidential speeches" on youtube. Its a bunch of clips that show great presidents of old (Roosevelt, Kennedy, Regan, Clinton, etc) saying inspirational stuff, followed bu bushie baby saying something really, really dumb.
