What would Happen If AMD went Bust?

Hi, i was just wondering what your thoughts would be as to this topic.

For those of you that don't know AMD manufacture processors and are being beaten to the dust by Intel. Trouble is it is the only thing keeping intel prices down.

i much prefer AMD to Intel, and for good reason. AMD is far more reliable, and function better than intel processors.

They are far more reliable. however, intel is getting way ahead in performance.

Do you have any facts to support that?

An AMD Proccessor is no less likely to stop working than an intel one.

yeah, i much prefer intel processors and try to avoid AMD processors, but competition is the driving force of economy. monopolies are bad!

that is much the same conclusion i came up with, only Nvidia is driving ATI into the red and that will drag AMD down with it.

yeah, ATI is AMD's only branch that i like and actually use. i cant stand AMD computers. people say they get more speed per hertz, but intel processors have twice the speed, so it doesn't matter.

AMD and Intel are equal in performance. AMD is more reliable. AMD is also cheaper. there is absolutly no reason to support intel...

i am sorry but intel beat AMD to the dust in the power to price contest. £150 for a 2.4GHz Quad Core from intel. £188 for a 2.4 Ghz Quad Core from AMD. and the intel one beats the AMD one. plus intel can sell youa 3GHz Quadcore.

because AMD's power limit is much lower. plus there is no proof that it is more reliable, and processors rarely break without being handled.

I have not had an amd product last less than 4 years, I've had intel products last 5 months.

hu? my old computer's intel processor is 7 years old and still runs at 100% efficiency. if something only lasts five months, it must be a defective mistake or someone messed it up.

The motherboard died. There may have been a defect, but I lost all will to buy anything from intel.

Intel is pretty much wiping AMD off the planet at the moment.  When AMD released the popular athlon 64/X2 chips, it awakened the beast within Intel to actually get off their butts and actually create a better product, and with the core 2 duo chips, they have had great success with.  We still might have been in the Pentium 4 age if it wasnt for AMD.   The smaller company forces Intel to work again.

Now If AMD does get shut down, then prepare for another Pentium 4 era...high prices and little changes.

Bingo, the competition is good, very good.

AMD Is fighting to keep itself in the black, so it will soon have a stroke of genius out of desperation and force Intel to really work.

The same happened in the war (but without the price cuts). both sides were in a technology race to win the war and everything advanced (including computers)massivly.

The motherboard is NOT made by intel. intel makes processors and graphics cards.
