Did this civilization exist, or was it just a story by Plato?

cud av existed, bt nt sure...it prob wasnt like a supremely advanced society, but it could have existed as a relativly advanced society. plenty or prospective places it cud av bin...loads of islands in world have sunk...and whats really intersting is one in Hawaii, where there are giant carved slabs underwater...

also, in middle of atlantic there are a few sunken islands. they were volcanic, so they also match the description...

but if in 2000 years, archaeologists discover the wizard of Oz book, and find Kansas...what do you think some people will say?

This is a slightly...weird...conversation. Atlantis never existed; scientists can prove that. One city in anicent Roman times did fall into the ocean after a massive earthquake. That's where this came from.

And people have found proof of this city.

Plato was alive before the existance of Rome. Anyway, What do you mean it never existed. There's another so called mythical city that was thought to be fiction. It was Troy.

Besides, can you explain why so many different civilizations, on different parts of the world, seem to have a story about an advanced civilization that disappears under the sea.

I dunno, man. That's pretty questionable. It's more likely there was such a civilization and they all were in one way or another connected to it economically or in another way at some time in their history.

in egyptian mummies there are traces of cocoa leaves, which have only ever grown in south america. so the egyptians were connected with south america economiacally

no, they were actually smaller. they were built by undersea volcanoes over thousands of years, so would have probably not even reached surface back then.

heres a thought....actually 2...wait...3

1) Atlantis was on a land bridge which sank
2) Atlantis was on a volcanic island near a large fault. the island sunk during a huge earthquake. (during earthquakes land sinks)
3) atlantis was on a remote island in the atlantic. this island sunk, and becuase of the depth of the water, we cant find it. (needle in a haystack)
