Land mine Laying Unit
« on: August 22, 2007, 06:09 am »

Can smeone make land mine laying unit like a tracked tank-like thing or a modified walker like a modified walker for the Empire(Like a pod walker or a SPMA-T for the Rebels a modified T4-B or a modified MPTL and the Zann Consortium already has a land mine laying unit)

it would  be good, it just might make attacking a planet like coruscant , where there arnt many ways into the base, even harder...then you get the sad people who just build a load of mine layers and put them on the way out of your attacking cp...

yeah I even set it to easy and they still use hard tactics first they destroy my comms array, then my shield generater(s), then my Heavy Factory then they will send 2-3 Companies of T4-b Tanks on one flank and troops, air speeders and T4-B Tanks on the other flank, then they destroy my factories(if they get that far in) and then it get interesting. . .

well. . .I'm not sure why they use tactics and some others don't. . .could it be a glitch that is good for the mod rather than screwing it up? anyway back on topic. . .I also meant to include the Empire having like a modified M-2 Repulsor Tank. . .to lay mines useing mine will help get rid of the damn T4-B tanks always budding in on infantry fights
Posted on: August 22, 2007, 01:28:07 PM
I've made a list of what could be modified to lay mines. . .

Units(Rebels):
Modified T4-B
Modified MPTL
Modified T2-B

Units(Empire):
Modified AT-AP"Pod Walker"
Modified AT-ST"Chicken Walker"
Modified SPMA-T
Modified Speeder Bike
Modified M2 Repulsor Tank
Modified Dark TRooper Phase III
Modified Dark Trooper Phase II
Modified Dark Trooper Phase I

The Team Should Choose. . .if they will choose at all coz I think this is a good idea. . .

and not only then I might not release the mod the Imperium is way too big for any of the normal maps, The Imperium is atleast 25 times longer than the Executor and the Executor(non-scaled down version) barley fits into the normal maps. . .I gotta make all the maps atleast 10 times the length of the Imperium and 10 times the widith of the length of the Imperium so it has enough room to move, thats gonna be atleast 2 years+, anyway back on topic any1 else got Ideas for modded Star Wars ground vehicles that could lay mines?

well i don't think that there are any vehicals that can lay mines that are cannon, but there could be the missile infintry that could aqlso lay mines. the conz has the mercinarys or something (i don't play constorm much) that has an ability to drop mines, so why not other infintry for reb and imps. rep has the plex missile solders amd the Empire also had hevy troopers. kind of like the hevy troopers in battlefront 2, rocket launcher (default wepon) and mines (special ability) :) :D :)

good idea. . .but the Heavy Trooper could have a Light repeating anti-infantry blaster rifle(the one that looks like a MG34) or the Plex Rocket launcher like you said. . .(all four side use Plex Rocket Launchers in Star Wars Battle Front II)

Mines aren't used by cowards but for a line of defense for many military positions (ex.) at El Alemain Rommel used millions of mines to make a defemsive line in which the British could not cross all at once

All countries use mines which in bad situations can be just as deadly as an Anti-tank rocket

Exactly! I'll do that! thanks for the strategy!

or I could just put alot of tanks behind the mines to guard the artillery aswell. . .

i like that, but im thinking a small scout drone like the spotters that come with the MPTLs. but along with spotting, they could also drop mines to guard the artillery

That's a good idea.  It should be the small, fast-moving units that should be the mine layers.

for the sake of argument, lets say cowardance is not a reason NOT to have mines. THINK! Let's give realistic options to the players. You canchoose not to use the mines if you feel brave. I for one like more options in the game. Even giving the A.I. the ability to lay mines too!

It would make teh game more of a challenge, especially when I've conquored a certain amount of planets and lose all of the fun due to boredom.
